One of the best gifts I have given!

I bought this for my wife for Christmas. She's always talked about having a little herb garden. We live in the Midwest so clearly, we're not doing much gardening for a good 6 months out of the year. We planted all 6 pods from the herbs kit and within days they sprouted and in mere weeks we had a cute little garden growing. The grow light is bright, it was a nice little beacon during the grey winter days. My wife often doesn't get along with technology, but this product is incredibly user friendly. It even retained memory of how long it had been growing and when to add nutrients after we had lost power numerous times in a night. For the price, this is an incredible gift for any one who has a green thumb...and maybe for those who don't. If you plant it, it will grow. Life's a garden, dig it.

Except the water

The only thing that presents a problem is that the LED light is right in front of the watering system so when you pour water into the unit when the herbs are full grown it makes it more difficult and you end up spilling water down on the display which has caused some shortage issues already. If they take out daylight savings time that needs to be updated as well. Everything else I absolutely love about this it comes with everything you need it's ready to go best gift that my husband's got me. If you don't have a green thumb this is the best way to start. Can remedy with a cheap watering can or funnel. Recommended 5/5

Grows Fast

The plants grow fast once they get going and you must trim them more than you would think. The water consumption is higher than anticipated but still relatively low maintenance. One of the pods I got with it never sprouted so that is unfortunate but the basil needed the space anyway so it wasn’t a big deal. Awesome idea and if I did it again I would probably go for the larger model since I would like more herb varieties.

Spacing issues

The second and fourth holes of my planter got crowded out despite ample trimming. The affected plants aren't dead but they certainly aren't thriving. My thyme still looks like a seedling. They just can't get enough light at this Pont. Plants grow extremely rapidly though.

New models made from cheap plasitc

I have two Aerogardens. This new Harvest Elite is made from a thin, cheap plastic. The one purchased in 2018 (Harvest-Plus) is made from a thick plastic. After a few weeks algae collects on Elite as shown in pics. Would not have purchased had I known product was made from an inferior plastic. Any boater knows that algae is a person's worst nightmare! I clean both on the same day; and the new Elite is filthy; whereas the older Harvest Plus has no algae at all! Would not recommend.

Redesigned harvest is great. Stylish indoor growing - buttons work fine for me

Works great. Very stylish and quiet unit. Not loud like other hydroponics systems, just a small trickle from the pump every so often. Haven't had any issues with the buttons - buttons are just like your phone screen, a light tap is all you need. Everything smells amazing, love having plants growing in my kitchen. Very bright so expect that. This new design is a great upgrade. Power brick is fairly large but not unsightly. I went with the elite model because I wanted to be able to see how many days planted and adjust the on time and light duration. The new design is great. Now that the power brick is separate there is no issues with overheating. Also the leds are different on the new model - more white LEDs and less red/blue which makes it easy on the eyes and more white is better for the plants. Overall a great unit, if your looking to get into growing plants indoors low maintenance this is the ticket, especially when it can be had for less than a two hundred dollars.

Heads Up, the menu selection is counter intuitive.

Heads Up! I returned this model because I thought it was defective since I couldn’t cycle through menu selections using the Up and Down buttons. When I received the replacement I had the same problem. While fooling around with the buttons I did something illogical, I set the display to “Set Time” and I pushed either the up or down button and voila it cycled to the next menu selection. The display on the unit says “Push the Up and Down buttons to change menu selections” but if you do that nothing happens AND the instructions say the same thing without telling you to set the display to Set Time and then use the Up and Down buttons. Hope this helps someone else. I have some plants starting to pop up so in that regard everything seems good. UPDATE: April 26/19 the unit started making a loud whining sound and the plants were all wilted and half dead. The "Add Water" indicator did not come on and the unit ran dry. I may have to start all over and be mindful to always visually check the water level. Dropping my initial four star rating down to three.

Great idea but..... bugs?

I received this product for Christmas and I love the idea of having indoor fresh herbs! It was very easy to set up and within 14 days every herb planted has sprouted! My only concern is I’ve noticed MANY tiny green bugs on my kitchen backsplash near the Aerogarden and on all the plants themselves. Not sure if these bugs were in the soil? They are spreading everywhere and this only happened since I’ve started using the Aerogarden (it’s January, so not typical to have bugs this time of year). I will continue to use the Aerogarden and see what happens.

Great way to grow herbs in winter

I planted six basil pods in this and they sprouted within a couple days and have grown into lush, healthy basil plants. The pictures show the plants after about 40 days, and also what the roots and water look like inside the base. The set up is very simple, just follow the instructions carefully. I always top up the water every couple of days and add plant food every two weeks when the plant food timer tells me to. In this model you can plant up to six plants though of course it'll depend on what kind of plants you're planting. Six herb plants are fine but if you're planting tomatoes they might get too crowded. The instructions are very detailed and the light height is easy to adjust. Overall this is a great way to grow plants in the winter though they're not going to be as big and bushy as they can get in a real garden. We like eating pesto all year long so this is perfect for growing basil in winter. As an added bonus, the light imitates daylight so it's a great mood lamp in winter to combat SAD.
