I've been using a Garmin watch for many years, so I always wanted a scale that would add more than a weight to my Connect app. I've been using Fitbit Aria and, by connecting through MyFitnessPal, I was able to pull the weights to Garmin Connect. However, it pulled only the weight, even though a body fat measurement was also available. When Garmin released their Index version 1, I got it, but encountered problems. First, the scale didn't stand firm on my bathroom tile floor even though Aria and another scale had no problems with it. Second, the weight fluctuation was significant, and again, that didn't happen with other scales I had. And I had to tap on the scale before measurement, not just step on it, like in Aria's case. So I returned it, disappointed, and decided that Garmin must be overwhelmed with negative reactions from the people and something more decent will be soon released. Well, it took for them 5 years and I finally bought their new Index S2. All that I see of the new features are the color display and the history chart. It is fine, but there are no improvements on the existing problems. I still have to tap the scales to start them, and this time it barely works at all. I have to tap and tap, maybe 5 times on different sections of the scale to make it respond. But sometimes it turns on by itself with me just walking by. Then, it doesn't stay flat again on my floor. I had to put some thick tape under the legs to level it. About the color display. It is awfully slow. It works as slow as some ancient computers from 1980s. When the image is scrolling it is hard to read, it is not smooth at all. You almost can see the pixels redrawing when the screen is scrolling, line by line. This is absolutely unacceptable in 2021, really, this is not a rendered 3D 4K picture, come on. Even, as I can recall, the previous version was faster. Seriously, there is a big problem with Garmin's engineers if they think this is not a shame to sell for such money. Maybe I keep getting broken scales time after time? I may try this time to replace it first to see if it's a systematic problem or not. I still give it one more star because it's doing its work somehow. Not sure about its precision. The weight is about 1% less that on Fitbit scale but the fat percentage is 2% more. Update: I received a replacement from Amazon. This time the scale doesn't even initialize, the display just blinks 9 times black-white repeatedly. Is this just me or Garmin's QA is not doing its work? Update2: Received the third one. This time it works better, the weight is on par with other scales, the tapping is more adequate (not ideal though still). I keep it for the reason I mentioned above, but still, Garmin, please, be less indifferent to the quality of your products.
