***FOR REFERENCE I am 5’8-5’9, 125ish lbs, usually wear a size 2-4/xs-small in clothes depending on the brand*** So I’ve had this plan in my head for YEARS to dress up as Pocahontas for Halloween, being that she’s my fav Disney princess, and also bc I’m in love with and greatly respect Native American culture. So this year after I had my son, I had this idea for us to dress up as Pocahontas, John Smith, and Miko the raccoon. It was so hard to find a good Pocahontas or Native American costume for the price point I was hoping for. Finally, after a lot of searching, I found this costume at a decent price and figured although it’s not exactly Pocahontas, I can absolutely make it work. My bf got his John smith outfit done, and I also found a raccoon costume for my baby. I was so excited! So the day I got this costume, I immediately took it out of the packaging to try on (we had a Halloween party to go to that day), and literally as soon as I opened it I instantly hated it… first thing I noticed- cheap, horrible quality fabric, etc. But regardless I still tried it on. And when I did, I hated it even more. I was so upset/disappointed bc I wanted to love it so much especially since we had a Halloween party to go to THAT DAY and had this all planned out for our family costumes. The material on this costume was the cheapest, lowest quality fabric I’ve ever felt in my life… (and trust me when I say, I really don’t have that high of expectations for any sort of Halloween costume, but usually it’s not THIS bad). **see photos for reference to see what I’m about to explain… which btw I only took photos to remember this moment of my son as I being Pocahontas and Miko together. I didn’t actually wear this out in public and ended up returning it the next day. But beware- these pics really don’t do justice to truly show how unfit the costume was. If I’d taken more pics to show a 360 view you would’ve seen better** First of all, the entire dress part of the costume was completely see-through (as you can see in the pics- you can see my shorts underneath), super thin fabric, and very uncomfortable/scratchy, etc. It did not fit me whatsoever. It was WAY too short in the hem (as you can see pictured- shorts peaking out from the bottom part of costume), barely covered my bum and even shorter on the sides (as you can see in the pics), weird fit in the chest area (and I’m not big-chested AT ALL- bra size is 30D/DD which if you know anything about proper bra sizing, that’s pretty small), the one shoulder strap/thing was way too short for my body so that looked weird and felt very uncomfortable/tight (can’t tell in pics), and then wayyy too loose in all other areas like the belly/waist/hips (also can’t really tell from pics)… all in all, just looked very unflattering on my body. The fringe was all over the place and crinkled, wouldn’t stay in the right place- (which I understand this can happen from packaging so this really wasn’t the main issue at all, and if I had worn it I would’ve been able to fix that with time and a low heat source like a blow dryer or my straightener)…. I tried so hard to make it work by wearing something underneath so it wasn’t so see-through, I even tried wearing a pair of shorts underneath to cover my bum… but it just was not working. My recommendation? Don’t even bother wasting your money buying this. Not unless you are like 5’5 or shorter, don’t mind being super uncomfortable, don’t mind it being completely see-through, and don’t have any standard for quality expectation. Especially for the price! You’re honestly better off buying a costume from like Spirit Halloween (or whatever Halloween store in your local area) if you’re going to spend $25+ on a costume… I RARELY ever leave reviews on things but this was something I really felt I needed to write a review about. I know this may seem a little harsh and I don’t mean to. I just really felt it was necessary to give some honest/thorough feedback about this in hopes that if you’re someone like me, and you look for good/honest reviews when buying apparel online, that this might help. So I hope this helps anyone considering this item!
