As Bad as Fluke.

Field engineering every day. I was looking for a helper, but that one isn't as good as it's price. Found the best way to use. You need to buy southern wire tone generator. Throw away Jonard Tools generator. Profit! Now you can listen every wire. Live circuit or not. That's not a problem! Jonard tools, I was disappointed. I spent a lot of time looking for something to take instead Fluke, which did not as good as it's price. Having studied the market, I chose this raw product.

USE CAUTION

For starters the construction of the unit is solid the premise is great for what they advertise, however the toner is not good quality, I didn't find out that it was not sending a tone through the line until after the return period expired, or I would've sent it back. Product claims to be able to send tone via BNC, Ethernet or bare wire connection, none work on this unit. The furthest I can tone is about 20 feet and even then it is a faint tone on the other end! On the plus side the data verification works like any other kit, though the price is too high to have it for just that. Have not contacted seller to see if they will do something about the product for me, but will be doing so soon...will update after getting word from them

Well built

Really well built and does everything it says. Great for testing continuity on network cable and the toner feature works well. The trick is to ground the black wire then the toner signal becomes very loud and easy to pick up with the probe. Great quality less expensive than the other Major Brand.

No battery constructed incorrectly

The description says 9 volt battery included. It was not. When open battery compartment,there were no connectors. Needed to pry entire case in order to find the connectors which were not placed in the battery compartment. Tone did not carry far in coax cable so had to resort to other methods to find the ends.

Don’t buy for toning feature!

Wire mapper works good but the toner and probe do not work at all. I cannot here the tone even 4 feet down the wire. I wish I could return and get a quality toner.

Great value

Love the quality of Jonard Tools. This is great for finding cables and the sound gets very loud, added bonus of being a good continuity tester. Great value at the price point. Sturdy construction, I dropped it and no issues.

Does a lot for the price

A lot of features and has a 50 ohm terminator to help with testing coax cable. I have not used the alligator clip sets yet, but that's a handy feature I plan on using a lot.

Probe works great -- really good and loud

Probe works great -- really good and loud, just the right amount of sensitivity ---- IF you use some other toner that is.. The toner does not work at all on the alligator leads and very very faint on the rj45 -- i didnt even bother to check the coax. Just havn't had time to get it replaced or refunded. Disappointed - just wanted a cheap back up to my fluke 3000 and/or fluke mini-scanner2 kit i use every day.
