Know your exfoliator! It isnt a physical exfoliator (scratchy texture). This is chemical exfoliation. You probably have heard of alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) and beta hydroxy acid (BHA), this here is PHA (from fruit extracts). The exfoliation from this comes from the polyhydroxy acid. It is EXCELLENT for sensitive skin, as it has larger molecules that work on outer layers of the skin. In my experience it can take longer than the other two options, but it is so much more gentle- and ultimately quite effective! I am SUPER sensitive to BHA (salicylic acid), and some AHA's (glycolic acid, lactic acid, mandelic acid). I can use the later, but I have to be very careful. Retinol is neither, but often gets clumped in as an exfoliator, but this is the worst for my skin. I get the uglies real quick (irritation, burns) even with light, infrequent application. So I have to be ultra careful. But since i dislike all the fuss regarding that., I aim for gentle options that I dont need to worry about. So PHAs?? No problem, EVER. Add in the fact that it is also MOISTIRIZING, and it is the perfect product for dry, sensitive skin. PHAs helps hydrate the skin and enhances skin cell regeneration. These properties are effective in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I'm in! How is it doing for me? All considered I have really good skin. Mid 40s, crazy good skin. BUT lately I have needed a little extra something. I get super lazy on my skin care. I always use SPF and moisturizers. Its been hot and humid lately, I wear sweatbands. I never ever have acne, but I noticed a few clogged areas along the spot where I position my sweatband. I picked at them and they hurt. My skin is also prone to hyperpigmentation so just playing around with it can create darkened spots. I noticed more congestion around my nose and sebaceous filaments too. I'm like, ok, I need some exfoliation, and I dont mean scrubbing my face with scratchy materials or walnut husks. I mean chemical exfoliation. I ordered this as I have tried several products from Exuviance over the past couple of years and have been very pleased. Exfoliation pads are super easy to use, and using PHA based pads make it stress free as I am not going to worry about it irritating my skin or burning it. Can use morning and night. Perfectly damp pads that I can use all over face, neck, and chest. Since PHA is so moisturizing, I feel like I can leave my skin as is. I dont have to follow up with moisturizer unless I want to. My skin feels crazy soft, and way less dry. Area long my hair line is totally improved. Even some dry bits are cleared up. I'd say all this has happened inside a weeks time? Just remember: this is a low and slow style of exfoliation, ultra gentle, non drying, non irritating. Moisturizing, gives skin a boost, great for aging skin.
