I must have purchased 150 pairs of no nonsense socks in the past 7-8 years- no exaggeration- NO NONSENSE. They used to be sold at Walmart in packs of 10- give or take a couple of pairs, depending on the package size. I’m pretty sure they were $8.97 to $11.97, depending on the count. Regardless, 2015 to 2017, Walmart sold this brand of socks in most stores in NJ, in differing varieties (thickness, breathability, etc.), in the cut considered “no show” or “ankle socks”, as well as others; and on average, they were fairly thick and stayed white for forever. Most, if not all, of my white socks (almost all of my socks are white), were these socks in size 6-10 and 8-12. Well, fast forward to 2018, Walmart stops stocking them in stores and the only place they can be found is Amazon and third party retailers on Walmart.com, eBay, etc. I’ve bought a number of packs from Amazon- none are the original quality as those sold in Walmart stores. This particular variety is very thin, good for summer. However, all of the no nonsense packages of socks I’ve received from Amazon have at least 1, if not more, issue- perhaps a defect, perhaps discreetly damaged- i can’t be sure... For example, 1 of 12 pairs I bought recently (4 packs, 3 pairs each), had loose strings in the toe area, as if a nail was too long and the constant friction during use had frayed or torn them. Mind you, I had just taken them out of the packaging and they were obv brand new, never worn- - I noticed this before I even put them on, they arrived that way. A few months prior to this incident, I ordered 10ish pairs in, a thicker and more cushioned style, pretty similar to the weight of the original fabric (normal cushioned daily cotton sock weight)- this pack came with the plastic somewhat torn off. Also, the little I-shaped plastic string which holds the socks in a bundle torn through a few pairs. So annoying. Idk why, obv I bought them in what was supposed to be “new” condition. Am I just unlucky? Perhaps. But 3 separate purchases, months apart, unlucky? Rather doubtable. If I didn’t have the majority of my socks from this brand, I would discontinue buying them altogether, as purchasing them is now a hassle and quality is not as it was. It’s like rolling the dice. I plan to throw away and replace all of my socks over the winter. Additionally, these socks no longer whiten up, for whatever reason, the newer ones I’ve bought just don’t go back to their original color as the older ones I have, do. I have socks which are literally 4-7 years old that are substantially whiter than those which are less than a year old. I wash my socks altogether and separate from all other laundry years (why yes, I am that crazy) and I use the same method as in years prior. Go figure. I wish they never changed a thing- they were perfect as they were. I don’t recommend unless you are in my position.
