Probably works well for a well-made dog.

I’m sure the fact that this is just a thin layer of Lycra-like material and not anything more substantial is indicated in the description of the item, so while I want to mention it in case anybody else doesn’t notice that, I can’t blame of the manufacturer. It is what it is. I bought this for a geriatric dog who’s got arthritis in all four legs and one leg was broken at the hip when she was young, so it basically doesn’t bend it all at this point and I wanted something comfortable and easy to get in and out of to work as basically a lounging suit. She’s pretty much skin and bones at this point, so I have to believe that she is chilly. I can’t believe how hard it is to find an easy on and off sweatshirt or T-shirt. They all require the legs to be lifted and pulled through. I was hoping for something like easy-on harnesses but with more material, that you slip over their head and fasten, with a Velcro strap or whatever. This was the closest thing I could find to what I was looking for, and of course since it has sleeves you still have to lift the legs. She’s a bully mix, so thick neck and big rib cage with a small waist. It does move back as she moves and binds at the neck a bit, but I haven’t left it on her long enough to know if it actually rubs. I also had to cut off the back legs, because she was just walking right out of them and then it was tripping her and she has hard enough time walking! I figure it still does some good for insulation and a second layer and at least she’s sure to not get too hot in it.
