we just moved into an older house. the washer hookups were badly corroded, but since we just moved, we didn't have a ton of extra money to hire someone to fix them right away. watched some tutorials online, came across a video of someone installing sharkbite valves, and bought them along with a pipe cutter and a tool to smooth out the burrs. i was kind of skeptical of this being so easy, because it seemed too good to be true, but it worked out great and i was done in less than half an hour! a couple tips i saw from the videos i watched before installing: - keep the valves in the bags they come in until you're ready to put them on the pipe. if debris gets into the valve before it's installed, it might not seal properly, or could cause issues down the line. - make sure you smooth out the burrs (sharp edges left on the pipe where you cut)! otherwise the burrs can cut the seal and ruin it. for people who have experience with this kind of thing that sounds like a no-brainer, but this was my first time doing anything like this, and i'm glad it was stressed a lot to me.

I wanted a way to have a functional spigot on our back porch. So I ordered this and another valve to create a 3 season waterline running under the porch that can be drained and shut off. This worked great! Easy to install, easy to use, and looks great. Whole project took 1/2 a day from prep through clean up.

I bought 2 of these to replace old school compression ones that must of been installed so long ago that when I tried to close one the handle snapped. The project itself was pretty worrying as both were locked on so tight I had no choice other than to saw them off, the pipes were in pretty bad shape and took a while to buff them as smooth as possible. Getting these on tight was another concern, they attached a little too easy too be true and expected a flood when switching the water on. But they were water tight and I didn’t have to do any fine tuning to get the compression drip free. Now I have to admit they don’t feel as safe as the traditional ones on the market and I’m not about to give them a good pull to find out. Other than that though they’re amazing and definitely something that Id like having in my tool box for emergencies
