Faulty factory battery

Light is excellent. Factory battery is faulty. Had to buy the rechargeable one. All in all good product if you buy the streamlight rechargeable battery itself separately.

Great durable product! Not enough battery

I loved this thing so much i bought protac 2.0. Unfortunately streamlight doesnt make a charger dock for this head lamp and it really makes me sad, cuz i also use it after work in the winter hours to walk my dog chop fire wood and work around the house. I really wish there was a battery dock for strion style batteries.

Heavy; Read for some notes on charging

I got this after getting stuck out in the woods one night when my other headlight decided to die. then the batts in my backup coincidentally decided not to hold a charge anymore, so stumbled out of the woods with only the moon. Point is, if you are going to be out there, buy something you can have confidence in. Streamlight is built like a tank, but pretty heavy on the head. Tends to tug on the elastic head-strap. Light punches thru the gloom well and lasts as long as their advertisement claims. (Update Dec 2020) Some info on battery: While I was able to use a generic 18650 battery, the included Streamlight battery is a little wider, so the generic rattled a bit, but never caused any lighting outages. The Streamlight OEM battery has it's charging terminals together at the top of the battery, and you use the (included) Streamlight USB cable to plug in to a gasket covered hole on the underside. But this also means you can't stick a generic battery in and expect to charge it in the unit the way the OEM batt charges. You will need to use another charger for that. Streamlight has their own 18650 rechargeable battery with a micro-USB charging port built right into the battery. (Great! Highly recommend) I have used Streamlight 123's and 18650 enough to know they are good quality. The other strange thing is when I use some of my generic USB cords to recharge the unit, they do not charge the OEM battery. I have to remember to bring the streamlight provided USB cable. These generic cables charge everything else I have, so not sure what's afoot. UPDATE: I think the power supply was not delivering the needed wattage. I recommend at least a 20w charger. the apple and Anker series should work. Update: the green filter goes over the lens but tends to not to stay in place. Solution: duct tape. Streamlight should improve this. Otherwise, I highly recommend this headlamp, especially if you hunt, fish, camp, as it's wonderful to have hands free. I'm increasing to 4 stars after extensive use, it warrants it.

Excellent headlamp with one flaw…

I’ll start by saying I’ve used streamlight products for the last 15 years, both in law enforcement and firefighting… they have a reputation that can’t be beat! I purchased this headlamp for LE use (when working on a secure scene) as well as use around the house, camping etc. This light is plenty bright for any headlamp function you could possibly need, I primarily use mine on low and it’s more than enough. Part of the reason I purchased this light was for the red filter function, to preserve night vision yet produce workable light. Unfortunately the red filter doesn’t stay in place and constantly falls off, whether in the storage position off to the side or on the light in use. The rubber piece is just not a tight enough fit. I will also mention after about 3 weeks of use my switch stopped working, sometimes taking 5-10 clicks to get light.. streamlight immediately sent a free replacement under warranty and it’s been flawless since!

Just buy this light right now.

This is a very rugged light. You can feel the quality when you handle and operate it. It’s not as bright as the brightest lights but it is every bit as bright as you can possibly need. I am super satisfied with my purchase. Sometimes it just pays to go with the name you know because you don’t have to question if you made a good deal for your money. I bought a cheap light before I bought this one. It claimed ridiculously high lumens and I was mad at myself when I got it. It was plastic and not close to the claimed brightness. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars... the design for the Lens cover could have been better thought out. When you take it off, it is tethered with a piece of rubber and it doesn’t stay put on the side of the light where you are supposed to attach it when not in use. It flops around in your face and interferes with the light. Also, there is no place to stow the extra filters that it comes with and I lost them almost immediately. But. If you want a rugged light that holds a charge and has the convenience of being charged anywhere there’s an outlet without removing the battery, this is the light I would recommend. It can take a beating and you can get it wet and it just works. It’s built to last and plenty bright.

Lets see if the first one was a Lemon

The Light while charging never turned green while being plugged in over night. Used the Light twice for a hunting trip and it worked great. Tried topping off the battery and the light would turn on as soon as I plugged in the supplied USB. Thinking the cable could be bad I tried an Anker USB cable and the light would turn on when plugged in to charge. the Steamlight battery is odd with a plastic ring around the top of the battery so I can't charge it with my nightcore 18650 battery charger. thinking it was the battery I grabbed a new 18650 and the light worked but would not cycle through the High Medium Low brightness setting and was only as bright as about what an iPhone can do..... not happy or impressed. set up a return as the light is less than two weeks old and already having issues, will see if new light is any better.
