Yes!

I bought this to use it as a pet gate. I’m very pleased with my purchase because it not only was one of the best looking ones but also affordable & it stays in place. It took me a bit to learn how to slide it in & out fast but you should be fine once you play with it for a while. Definitely recommend!

Perfect for pets!

Super easy to install, doesn’t mark up your walls, and truly fits wide hallways. The “Quick-Fit” memory lock is a helpful feature as well. It’s like a slightly modernized version of the gates my parents used for my childhood dogs and me in the 90s. Great for pets— I use it to keep my dog and cat upstairs at night. The pressure mount is strong enough to withstand forceful, “let me out!” headbutts from my Siamese cat and clumsy body slams from my Black Lab. After trying out gates from different brands, this is, by far, the best gate I’ve found. *I do not know how my experience with its sturdiness compares to babies/young children. As with any gate, there is always a risk of harm.*

Not as strong as they used to be.

It's a baby gate. It works, it's tall, but they aren't built like they used to be. Prior to this one we had a plastic one whose mechanisms shattered after about a year of use. So we bought this one because we have another like it that one of the grandparents used on us as kids (i.e 30 years old) and it has stood the test of time; still strong and keeps my baby out of places we don't want him to be. So this has an improved locking mechanism which makes it easier to size up to the space you need. But the joints are weak. My (2 year old (25 months)) son was running toward the kitchen and not only knocked the tightly secure gate down, but broke one of the corner joints. The other (30 year old, wood frame) gate has been run into, banged on, kicked, jumped over (by us) and not even flinched from it's doorframe, just a little disappointed in the craftsmanship of today.

Worked great for a month and then my kids broke it....

I was the gate to stop my new Pup from climbing the stairs, but with in a month My kids broke the tensioning leaver on the gate. I've had these in the past and this always seems to be the weak point of these gates.

Great gate from someone who’s tried them all

I feel like I’m an expert on baby gates now. I have a 1 year old and have tried them all. It’s funny but the cheapest ones have ended up being my favorite ones. This one is great as it fits in a larger area. It took us a few minutes to figure out how it works. I actually had to come on here and look at photos because ours didn’t come with instructions to properly open and close it but once you figure it out you never have to think about it again. I have even been able to put up and take down this gate with my baby in one arm. So that’s pretty impressive. Overall very happy with this purchase.

Good, but not quite as advertised

Overall the gate is good value for money and i do recommend. The reason for docking a star is that the gate physically varies from the images shown on Amazon, albeit rather slightly, it does make a difference for some use cases... The horizontal and vertical pieces of the frame are show in the picture as overlapping on the vertical, where as they actually overlap on the horizontal. I can still use the gate, but in order to fit the opening I bought it for (an archway), it had to be mounted rather higher than I wanted to avoid hitting the baseboard. For those buying to fit in a doorway, this should not be a problem.

Extremely tall gates

These gates work perfectly. We did return, however, because they are very tall and we neeed to keep an elderly family member from trying to walk over it. Very sturdy, durable and well designed.

The Worst Baby Gate I Have Ever Used

I expect 3 things from a baby gate: 1) It should be easy to expand to the right size to block the area I need. 2) It should be easy to retract when it is time to remove the baby gate. 3) It should be sturdy enough that it can last through weeks of daily use. This gate fails on all counts. The push button toggle on the sizing assembly is unnecessarily difficult to use, and it can't quickly be expanded or retracted. It constantly gets stuck on too small a size when expanding, and it's not at all clear when the sizing assembly is locked vs. still sliding. This gate broke after only 3 days of use. The wooden sizing beam broke next to the sizing button. It no longer keeps any tension and now has to be propped up with chairs and other furniture. Yes, it is still technically keeping our little one confined, but I can't trust that it will stay standing if a serious attempt is made to knock it over.
