OXO Products are good

Had another scoop that we bought two of they they both fell apart within days, this is a simple design that works that doesn't give me the vibe its going to break anytime soon.

Great for Left handed people

These can be hard to find. All others with the scoop release on the side are mainly for right handed people. This design good either way and I am left handed so Thank you

Solid build

Head and Handle Both Too Small

Head is not big enough. Back and forth from the ice cream tub even to fill a small bowl of ice cream, much less a blender or pie crust. Good grief. And the handle is too short (prepare for wet, sticky knuckles). Ice cream sticks to the "flipper" mechanism, so what's the point of having a flipper? Ufff. What a rip-off.

Pushes ice cream off the face of the scoop

This ice cream scoop makes it easier to get ice cream out of the curve of the scooper. Ice creams tend to stick in another scoop I have and I'll need to dig it out with a spoon. This scooper will push out the ice cream with the lever embedded in there. I can just press it from the handle with my finger or thumb and most of the time, the ice cream will fall out. Aside from the usefulness of this feature, the ice cream scoop is also easy to hold. The handle doesn't slip while I'm using it. It cuts through hard ice cream quite easily and I can press the frozen treat into a roundish shape for a pretty presentation in the bowl. I like to rinse off this tool right after I use it to get the ice cream off of it. It's much easier to clean this way. It can be tricky to wash and dry the lever part that's in the scoop, but not so inconvenient that I would shy away from using this ice cream server. It makes getting ice cream out of the container a simple task compared to scoopers without such a lever.

Working ice cream scooper

This OXO Steel Lever Ice Cream Scoop works well as an ice cream scooper. It is narrower than what I'm used to, so pretty slim but I think because of it's shape, it's able to dig deeper into hardened ice cream. Also, the oval like tip is stronger than the round ice cream scooper. So I would say it's ergonomic, and weighs a bit heavier than the typical scoop as well. Cleaning is pretty straightforward and requires just running it through water.

Dishwasher safe

Great for very firm ice cream but I couldn't scoop rock hard ice cream with it. Running it through the dishwasher removes the residue that can get stuck under the lifting mechanism. Pretty easy to hold but some rubber added to the handle would make it easier to grip because it can get slippery. Eliminates the need to use your finger to dislodge stubborn scoops of ice cream.
