The wheel cylinder is leaking

It was very disappointing to replace all of the brake parts and this one cylinder leaked like crazy

the trick can be removal of previous unit . patience is the key to not cross thread , mounts as oem does.

MADE IT STOP

The rear brakes locked up on my 1961 Chevy Impala. The wheel cylinders were in desperate need of replacing. They looked like they had gone through a war. Changed them along with the brake shoes, had some problem getting the lines to bleed, and still had an issue with the brakes wanting lock up. I attached an air hose to one of the back lines, disconnected the line from the proportioning valve and tried to push air through. No luck. come to find out that the flex line from the axel to the frame was bad, collapsed or plugged. The line, (Dorman H26913), fit perfect and I'm back on the road. Someone had made note of the fact that it's possible to buy parts for your classic on Amazon and the proof is that I got everything here. The shoes are Raybestos 228PG and the wheel cylinders are AC Delco 18E1124. Both left and right are the same wheel cylinders. Yours may be left and right. I didn't like that the bleeders are 10mm, but it seems that auto manufacturers have been replacing anything that was 3/8 or 7/16 with 10mm since the 1980's. Deal with it.

Metric.... REALLY!?!

They're wheel cylinders..... Not too complicated. Not real pleased that AC Delco moved everything to China, just means I'll buy less of their products. One thing that irritated me to nearly the point of returning them, they're freaking METRIC bleeder screws..... You used to be able to do all of the work with a 3/8 wrench. 3/8 wrench for brake line, 3/8 wrench for bleeder screw, 3/8 for wheel cylinder bolts... Not anymore... Bleeder screw is 10mm. Every single nut/bolt on my 71 C10 is SAE, except the bleeder screws.... Most other Manf of classic car parts use SAE to stay uniform on things, all except AC Delco apparently. And before I hear that these fit other models, yes, they do, but nothing newer than say 1995-ish and just domestic vehicles that I'm aware of. And the mounting bolt holes are SAE.... So is the brake line port.
