Really Good Product.

I know that this product is labeled for ponds. However, I use this in my 90 gal. community tank. The chunks of material are much larger than that recommended for aquariums but their larger size provides a larger space for the anaerobic bacteria necessary to reduce nitrates. I am using it in two bio reactors, and my nitrates have gone from out of control to around ten ppm in a little over a month. Of course I still use frequent water changes, and have a heavily planted tank. I have also not noticed any deterioration of the matrix material like that seen with some other products.

Saltwater aquariumnitrites

If you want a quality colony use this. Just as good as live rock. Also recommend ATM colony to seed if using in saltwater aquarium. I use pond matrix in my canister filter and have had 0 ammonia and 0 nitrites and haven't changed. Great alternative if you have limited space. Makes canister filter seem like 80lbs of live rock.

I respect this company very much, I am using many products from them... but this one is useless. You have so many other products that works so much better and so better cost as well. Conclusion, this is the one product from this company that I do not recommend.

Not what I expected

I was disappointed with this substrate. Does not have the surface area I expected. Also, a large portion of the pond matrix floats and does not stay submerged in my sump. There were many different types of "stone" in the container. I would not buy or use again. I will stick with other bio media in the future like Cermedia Marinepure or Fluval Biomax.

Decent value

Other reviews have indicated a weird mix and lots of crushed powder…mine was all quite uniform. Will take a bit to get established in the system. So far so good.

Kind of disappoint as item is mixed with 20% unknown rocks. Felt like I got ripped off.
