Fixed an impossible task

I can't say enough about these. I broke out a captive nut welded inside my rear sway bar mount. It is boxed in, so there were no other options to get a wrench in for a bolt or nut on the axle side. I drilled and tapped this one. I did not have the E-Z Lock tool to screw it in, which I would recommend because the opening is a little wide for a flat head screwdriver. I did get it inserted and it has held well so far for about 800 miles. Awesome fix for the price.

The inserts work fine. Just use a better thread locker on the outside.

Threads are exactly what they say. The glue is not. Have to use extra thread locker to set in place.

Better than Heli-Coil for My Application

For my particular application (brake caliper mount), this was better than a heli-coil. This was due to the thickness of the mount material. The other benefit was the use of a standard size tap for the OD. I actually had to grind some of the insert material off to have it match the mount thickness. Note: take your time when cutting the OD threads and use plenty of oil.

These are fantastic!

I bought these after spending $40 on a heli coil repair kit from local auto parts store, which were a total waste of time and lacking in quality. I bought a letter Q drill bit and an M10 tap, and these inserts we're so simple to use. My only gripe is that the loctite didn't seem to ever cure, I was using them in aluminum and they tried to spin out just tightening a screw by hand after being left to cure for 20 minutes, so I removed and applied permatex red loc-tite and that solved that. Overall, from now on I'll use either these inserts or thread-serts for any thread repair.
